1. Mike Delevante “The Rain Never Came”, of the album “September Days” (April 11, 2025). Mike Delevante: Vocals, Electric 6 & 12 String Guitars, Acoustic Guitar; Joe Pisapia: Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Pedal Steel, Keyboards, Mellotron; Garry Tallent: Bass, Acoustic Guitar; Bryan Owings: drums, percussion; Jamie Dick: drums, percussion; Will Honiker: Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Mellotron; Dan Knobler: Acoustic Guitar; Bob Delevante: Harmonica. Mike Delevante formed with his brother Bob, the duo The Delevantes, debuting in 1995 with an EP and its consequent album. In 1997 they published the second work, spending more than twenty years in publishing the third, in 2021. It is now, when Mike He edits his first album in his name. Accompanies him with other musicians, his brother Bob. The album is a masterpiece as a whole, but I have chosen to highlight the song that opens the album, The Rain Never Came. This piece, in a way, transmits an optimistic message, since Delevante Reflect on the continuity of life despite apocalyptic warnings, suggesting that, in the end, the rain never comes: “Esto es para todos los agoreros que intentan asustar a todos prediciendo el fin de los tiempos. A menudo, es una mezcla de política y religión con motivos ocultos. ¿Cuántas veces nos han dado una fecha en el calendario que ya pasó? Y siguen apareciendo. Quizás tengan razón, y quizás el fin esté cerca, pero lo que recuerdo de mis años en la escuela católica es que la Biblia dice que nunca sabremos el día. Y es una tontería predecirlo”. 2. Charley Crockett “Lonesome drifter”, of the album “Lonesome drifter” (March 14, 2025). Charley Crockett: Lead Vocals; Mario Valdez:drums; Jacob Marchese:bass; Dave Biller: Electric Guitar; Alexis Sanchez: Second Electric Guitar; Rich Brotherton: Acoustic Guitar (All Tracks), Banjo (Track 2); Kullen Fox: piano, Wurlitzer, Orchestral Bells, Trumpet. More guests. The album of Mike Delevante It is remarkable, but the singer -songwriter Charley Crockett It is not far behind. With a ten -year -old consolidated trajectory, Crockett presents a co -produced disk with the musician Shooter Jennings. I especially highlight the song that opens the album, which bears the same name as the title. It is a hypnotic piece, with a persistent rhythm that is recorded in the mind, becoming a true crockett song, accompanied by a letter that transmits a solidarity message: “Desdémona, ¿por dónde empiezo? / ¿Quién de nosotros está libre de pecado? / Solo soy un vagabundo solitario en la carretera solitaria. / Apóyate en mí, hermano, porque te entiendo”. 3. The Delines “Mr. Luck and Ms. Doom”, of the album “Mr. Luck and Ms. Doom” (February 14, 2025). Amy Boone: Lead Vocals; Be Oldham: Drums, vocals, percussion; Willy Vlautin: guitar, vocals; Tucker Jackson: Pedal Steel Guitar; Freddy Trujillo: bass, vocals; Cory Gray: Keyboards, Trumpet, Flelhorn; Mark Powers: percussion; Noah Bernstein: saxophones; Amanda Lawrence: violin, viola; Collin Oldham: Cello. Sixth album of The delines, maintaining the same quality as your previous works. I highlight again the song that gives name to the album, a ballad that intensifies over time, where the impressive voice of Amy Boone Leave a deep mark on a letter that portrays losers supporting each other:“El Sr. Luck y la Sra. Doom / Ella nunca se cae del mundo porque es a él a quien se aferra / Su ropa siempre está tirada por toda la habitación / Él siempre la salva de su ruina autoinfligida / Ella guarda su dinero y hace las reglas / Desgastan todos los colchones de cada habitación / Siempre salen antes de que se caigan”. 4. Melissa Carper & Theo Lawrence “Thank You, But No Thank You” (Single of January 15, 2025). It is surprising that a French singer collaborates with an artist from Nebraska and that the result is so successful, but that is, his chemistry is undeniable. Together they have created a lovely and energetic song that evokes the spirit of the traditional country. Without a doubt, it is a perfect closure for the list. The letter expresses the desire of a reciprocal and warm love: “La vida sin el toque amoroso de quien amas / Gracias, pero no, gracias, no es para mí / Las noches sin hablar en la almohada hacen que el corazón se enfríe como una roca / Gracias, pero no, gracias, no es para mí // Puedes tenerlo, yo no lo quiero / Estar solo no es forma de ser / Una hermosa melodía sin armonía / Gracias, pero no, gracias, no es para mí”.
If the previous suggestions were framed in the pop rock with a tendency to Jangle Y Twee Pop, now they focus on the Rock and roll and a certain trend Garage Rock. In this new selection, I propose two Boston bands, Muck and the Mires Y Shotgun Waltz, together with Go Dog Go, from Baltimore, and Bristol's couple, Kimberley Rew and his wife Lee Cave-Berry. 1. Muck and The Mires “Because of you”. MUCK (Ex-Veodoo Dolls/The Queers): Vocals, Guitar, Jessie Best: Drums; Pedro look (Ex-The Apehangers): Lead Guitar; John Quincy Look: Bass. Boston's quartet has just released his eighth album, “Beat Revolution”. They have a consolidated career since that year 2000 that they would debut with the excellent “All Mucked Up”. With their new album, they show that they maintain the same vitality of their beginnings. The variety of styles present in the album includes songs by Garage Rock, PowerPop, Punk Rock or the energetic rock and roll of “Because of you”, a track that opens exceptionally the selection of four songs that I have chosen. 2. Shotgun Waltz “One and done”. Jim Dign: Vocals, Guitars; Rick Weden: drums, percussion; Pete Abajoli: bass, vocals; Adam Dehner: Guitars. And from Boston, this veteran quartet also comes. They have been forming the group since 2013 and have released two EP's and several singles, but it is in this 2025 when they have just published their first album, “Root causes”. A formidable album of energetic rock and roll and alternative rock roots that fixes its gaze in the eighties and nineties sounds. If the album itself is a true feast, the song I have chosen, “One and done”, es ¡madre mía! la canción de “su vida”, una verdadera pieza maestra, con la voz rasposa de Jim Dign, the group supporting and the guitars wearing. In addition, it has a remarkable letter: “Podría decir cualquier cosa / Verte desvanecer / Extrañamente culpado por todo / Mientras te alejas // Todas las formas en que mi fe / se derrumba bajo ti / Te deshaces / Eres uno y listo / Nunca te quedaste aquí para enfrentar / Dejas que tus demonios te venzan / Te deshaces / Eres uno y listo / Te deshaces… / Eres uno y listo”. 3. Go Dog Go “Talkin’ with my dog”. Tom Cohan: guitar, vocals; Julie Smith: Keys, vocals; Greg Breazeale: bass, vocals; Brandon Breazeale: Drums, vocals. We continue with quartets, now by Baltimore. They have been 11 years old and have two albums and a lot of singles. And it is single, because “Talkin’ with my dog”, it is the most recent. A brilliant song of garage rock with touches of psychedelia enhanced by the sound of the organ of Julie Smith. Kimberley Rew and Lee Cave-Berry “Listen in colour”. Kimberley Rew He is a legendary English vocalist and guitarist, born in 1951 in Bristol. He was part of The Soft Boys between 1978 and 1981, with Robyn Hitchcock at the head and Katrina and The Waves From 1981 to 1999. In 1982 he edited alone “The Bible of Bop” and after separating from Katrina, he returned to publish solo albums, having a total of 11. Lee Cave-Berry It is his wife, sings and touches the bass. He has been in several groups and has a solo album. Together with her husband, such as Kim and Lee, they have several jobs. They finish getting a new single, very catchy and enjoyment, of good rock and roll. A song that stays in your head and, in its final part, Kim demonstrates how he knows how to look with his guitar. Great climax for the four tracks.
Today I have decided to choose four recent songs from Pop-rock that are characterized by their style Jangle Pop Y Twee Pop, perfect to give this week an impulse. 1. The Beths “Metal”. The Beths It is a New Zealand band that made its debut in 2018 and has launched three studio albums to date. Recently, they have signed with the record Anti- And to commemorate this new chapter, they have presented a magnificent single titled “Metal”. This song arises as a result of the health problems faced by his vocalist, Elizabeth Stokes, who, despite his difficulties, expresses his astonishment around the world and his own body. Let's trust what Lizy Recover your strength. 2. Exploding Flowers “Across a sea”. The Californian band debuted in 2011. His second work took nine years to appear. Five years have passed for the third and current “Watermelon/Peacock”, a very enjoyable album that begins with an overwhelming “Crowded Streets”. I have preferred, however, his closing song, a very catchy song of crystalline guitars and voices that seem to ride us at great moments of pop-rock. 3. Monnone Alone “St. Mary’s Pass”. The song belongs to the fourth and current work, “Here comes de afternoon”, of the Australian musician Mark Monnone, former component of the cult band The Lucksmiths. Change the line with respect to your previous album, “Stay Foggy” -Disco that had a more lo-fi trend, for more jangle-pop and psych aspects. “St Mary’s Pass” It is a delicious half time Jangle-pop that establishes an impasse with the first two and vertiginous previous songs chosen. 4. Le Pain “Is That How You Want Me To Feel?”. “Dirge Technique” It is the brilliant debut of this Angelina band of certain French complaints. The album includes two or three songs in French that are quite prominent; However, I have chosen to close the four tracks with the single “Is that…”, which had already been released previously. This song starts hesitantly, but quickly transforms into a brilliant exponent of Twee Pop. His lovely and melodic style is ideal for culminating musical selection.
